Sleigh Ride Snow Globe Ornament

Check out my video tutorial here - CLICK HERE

I used a 3" half-dome ornament that I purchased from Michaels. There are two halves in each package. I also picked up different sizes of glitter/snow here as well.

1. Cut background from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper using the Scalloped Circle that fits best to the ornament half you have.

2. Use your Stampin Up Circle dies (I used a #6 - when counting from center to outer ring) to cut the Season of Cheer snowflake DSP paper. This will be your night sky.

3. Cut one Whisper White circle (#6) for the houses. Cut one Silver Foil circle (#6) for the sleigh and horse and cut one circle from dazzling diamonds (or use the other half of the whisper white circle left over from the houses) to cut out the tree layer.

4. Using the Sleigh Ride Edgelits - cut your layers. Start by cutting the trees (front row), then use this layer to see where to cut your sleigh out of the silver foil paper. Use stampin dimensionals to layer these two pieces together to create depth.

5. Next use the first two layers to see where to cut out your houses out of the whisper white. This will be your third layer. Use the dimensionals to layer this to the other two layers (trees -front, sleigh - second layer, houses - third layer).

6. Attach the layers to your Season of Cheer background sky matching up the bottom curve to all layers. I used the Tombow glue to adhere the layers to the background. Once all the layers are together, glue them to your Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Scalloped Paper - centered.

7. Add snow - glitter, large glitter and such in a pile in the center of your layered pieces.

8. Use a hot glue gun to glue your half ornament dome to the scene. Working fast as to attach it before it dries. You will need to go back around the edges with the hot glue gun to make sure all the edges are sealed and no glitter escapes. Use a thin ribbon of glue and a light touch so that to much glue doesn't get around the edges and become messy.

9. Cover the glued edge of the ornament with ribbon. Attach a loop of silver cording or ribbon to hang the ornament and tie a bow and glue it to the top of the ornament. You are done and now have an awesome handmade ornament to top gifts or give as a gift to teachers, neighbors, the postman...etc.

Have fun!

Stampin' UP! Play Date - Pop Up Box Technique

What great fun we had getting together for a down-line demonstrator meeting to learn a new technique - The Pop Up Box.

This took a bit of measuring but the card has a great WOW effect when it is opened and worth every measurement, cut and paste we made.

Pop-Up Box Card
Tuck a surprise inside a box-shaped pop-up card!
⦁    8.5" x 11" card stock
⦁    Coordinating DSP patterned paper (Designers Series Paper)
⦁    Adhesive, glue dots, Stampin' Up! dimensionals
⦁    Die cuts
⦁    Acetate, cut into narrow strips
⦁    Scoring tool
⦁    Paper trimmer
⦁    Stamps (Snowflakes, flowers, butterflies, etc.)

Step-by-Step Instructions:
1.    For a standard A2 card (vertical):
   ⦁    Cut card stock to 7 1/2" x 9 1/4".
   ⦁    Score at 2 1/8", 4 1/4", 6 3/8" and 8 1/2".
⦁    Rotate the card stock to the left. Cut off 2"  (this will be for the strips on the inside of your card)
⦁    Cut the 2" strip at 3 5/8" and cut in half lengthwise.

2.   Now take the box base:
⦁    On the card base, score at 2 1/2"
⦁    Now cut the shorter 2 1/2" score lines down to the middle score line.

3.   If you would like to put on a backing to your DSP - cut the matting: (If you don't wish to add a mat background to your DSP, then just use these measurements to cut your DSP and skip #4)

   ⦁    5 1/4" x 1 7/8" of matting (card back)
   ⦁    1 7/8"  x 2 3/4" - 3 of these. (that will go around the 3 bottom sides)
   ⦁    1 7/8" x 2 1/4" - 6 of these. (top flaps / front and back)

4.   Cut your DSP paper to size as follows:
⦁    5" x 1 3/4"" - of white card stock (card back - to write or stamp a sentiment on)
   ⦁    1 3/4" x 2 1/8" - six of these. (top flaps / front and back)
   ⦁    1 3/4" x 2 5/8" - 3 of these. (that will go around the 3 bottom sides)

Assemble and decorate.

All the leaves are brown, and the sky is gray.....

Fall is in the air and I cannot wait for the cooler temperatures and the changing seasons.  I have rounded up one of my favorite stamp sets for my Thanksgiving cards that I will be sending out.  This stamp set has a set of dies as well and yep, you can purchase them as a bundle and save!

Nothing says fall more then the Vintage Leave stamp set # 138802 and the matching Leaflet Framelit Dies # 140235 (bundle)

As I was running the leaf die thru the Big Shot, I layered a piece of black fun foam under it and cut the two pieces at the same time and glued them together to give dimension to my leaf.  I also added clear embossing powder to the leaf so that it really POPPED off the page!  Very fun card to make!  What a lovely stamp bundle!

All is calm, all is bright......

The holidays are upon us...traffic is picking up,
the store shelves are full of wonderment and excitement as we stuff our purchases in our cars and plan holiday meals, decorations for the inside and outside of our homes and start getting ready to do up some one-of-a-kind handmade holiday cards for loved ones and friends.

Below are a few samples of the cards I will be sending out this year that I made with the items in our new 2015 Holiday Catalog.  Need to get your mojo going and start your own holiday cards for friends and family?  Browse my online store at and get your supplies!

This Snowflake Popup Card was a fun one to make.  I use Night of Navy and Marina Mist card stock and some of the new holiday DSP paper on this one.  I also used the Flurry of Wishes stamp set #139732 and the Snow Flurry Punch # 139680.  Buy them in a bundle and save 15%.  Once you get the concept of how to build the box you can have anything pop out of it - from balloons, to flowers, gift boxes to snowflakes.  This card folds flat and is mailed in a 4.25 x 5.5 envelope!  Now THAT is a WOW card!
This holiday card is for all of those down to earth nature loving friends and family.  The embossing folder is Woodland Textured embossing folder # 139673 and the stamp set is The Wilderness Awaits #138962 (wood) or # 139365
and has beautifully detailed stamps that are sure make up the best masculine cards out there!  It features a fox, duck, elk (shown here) and pointing hunting dog.  Really beautiful stamp set!

These cards feature the Sleigh Ride thinlets #139670 and the Jingle All The Way stamp set #139907.  Buy them as a bundled set and save 15%!!  The first one is done on watercolor paper and was made by stamping color on a stamping block, spritzing it with water and putting it onto the paper.  Then you sprinkle salt over it and watch as the salt makes a snowstorm of wonderful texture on your card.  Add the Sleigh ride cutouts and  WALLA!!  you have a stunning holiday card.

This card combines the Sleigh Ride thinlets above and the Delicate Ornaments Thinlets #139667.  I think they pair well together.

This card is made with the holiday DSP paper and the Delicate Ornament thinlit die # 139667, the black glitter paper and fold foil paper. It has to be one of the most classy bundles in the new holiday catalog and a must have if you are making your holiday cards.  The Falala is part of the Seasonal Frame Thinlit Die Set # 139658.  It comes with 4 words to cut out - falala, grateful, snow and spooky.  Pair it with Sparkly Seasons and save 15% on the bundle!

Ready for Halloween! Are you?

This happens to be one of my favorite tools from Stampin' Up!  There are so many things that you can make with this Curvy Keepsake Die - the possibilities are endless.  Don't believe me?  Just type in Stampin Up Curvy Keepsake into Pinterest and see thousands of cute ideas.  Why just in my craft room I have Minions and Penguins, Ninja turtles and Angry Birds, Chicks and Bunnies, Wedding place setters, Frankenstein and Dracula and lots and lots of pumpkins that I filled with candy and am handing out tomorrow for Halloween.

This is one tool I highly recommend - you will need a Big Shot to cut out the die but the assembly I so very easy and the possibilities are many!

Masculine Cards for those special out doorsy types in your life!

I saw a demonstrator doing a similar card on her site and fell in love with it!  I actually changed out the background and used the "Woodland Textures" embossing folder.  I coated the background in versa mark and sprinkled dazzling diamonds all over it for that sugary frosted look.  These look amazing in person!  I used the oval dies for my main focuslayer and the forever favorite "Lovely as a tree" for the forest.  The beautiful majestic elk came from "The Wilderness Awaits" Stamp set.  This stamp set is one of those 'I GOTTA HAVE IT' stamps.  If you have this stamp then you know what I mean!
I tore a piece of scrap to mask off the mountains with and used a post it for the moon.  I then used Wink of Stella to make the moon shimmer.  The ink for this focal layer is just the new archival gray and black.  Simple but a really nice layout!

This stamp set is a must have for anyone who has a hunter or a nature lover in the family!

Getting ready for fall!

Working on a few items for fall using the curvy keepsake.  This is one of the most valuable and versatile dies that Stampin' Up! has to offer.  There are literally hundreds of things you can make with this one tool!  The fun never stops with this one.  It is the item I tell everyone that they should order first because it will work for any holiday, birthday or party.  You will need the Big Shot for this one but it is so worth it!
Below I paired the Curvy keepsake with the Vintage Leaves found on page 88 of the annual catalog.  Yea, you are right!  It is one of my favorite bundles and from what I can tell it is a favorite of many since I see beautiful cards popping up all over Pinterest!

Here is one of the cards I made with the Vintage Leave set for Thanksgiving.  I used versamark all over the leaf and used a clear powder on it to make the leaves shiny.  I also added a touch of gold glitter to it.  These are so fun to make. You can see any of my tutorials on YouTube by just typing in my name "Donna Demko" in the search field.
