Ole Gray Goose

Today I am more in the Autumn mode but not as far as all the pumpkin and orange color combos that are so popular this time of year...today I wanted to try something with neutrals and see if I can still stay within that autumn feel.  I pulled out my neutral papers, Basic Black, Basic Gray and Smoky Slate ink pads.  I also added a bit of Sahara Sand in for a pop of fall color.  I love the stamp set Wetlands by Stampin Up!  This stamp set is so very versatile.
For the "Fall" aspect, I used the Big Shots Autumn Accents Die  - this die is also one of my favorites.  I wanted to do something different though since everyone was either stamping or cutting them out and applying them to their cards.  I also didn't want it to over whelm the "Wetlands" Stamps.  So I made a mask.

Instead of placing the goose in an oval or a square - I made the big maple leaf my background and added a smaller leaf in Sahara Sand to add just a pop of brown to the gray and black card.

I then set about stamping my main characters onto my card to complete the scene.

To tie in the Sahara Sand brown accent, I added brown (Early Espresso) twine and brown buttons to the card.

and attached the matted front of the card to the beautifully gray card using pop dots......for some reason I just love the gray paper.  It also makes glorious Christmas cards that really pop the white accents of glitter touched snow and adds a touch of frosty, foggy gray to the piece.  In the picture I am taking my thumb nail and just pushing into the center of the pop dot....(see the crease)....it helps to bring up one corner for ease of grabbing and detaching it from its sticky counterpart.

I always make more than one card (usually 6) because if I only made one...I would want to keep it as a keepsake - cards are like virtual little hugs, you need to give them, not store them in a box.
Here is the finished piece.....well almost.  I did take the acorn from the die cut and hung it from the button. Hope you are getting your "Fall" on.  If you need any of these supplies, visit my website at www.donnademko.stampinup.net and order yours today!
